Looking for ways to strengthen your child’s speech/language skills in your daily life?
1. Read each day and discuss what’s happening. Try to predict what will happen next, figure out why a character is doing something, and relate what’s happening in the story to your own life or another book you have read. Finally, retell the story without peeking!
2. Cook together- Sequencing the directions and measuring are great skills to practice.
3. When shopping, give your child specific directions/descriptions of a nearby item to get.
4. Have your child think of an object. Then have him/her describe the object without telling you what it is. You then guess the object. Take turns as to who is describing/guessing. (A great activity when stuck in a line or in the car!)
